Cardholders, able to download 5 MP3s per week before, can now additionally stream 3 hours of music per day. Set up playlists or use the “stream now” button to stream an entire album. Similarly, you can now listen to an entire song before deciding to download by clicking its sampling button. A counter in the upper right-hand corner keeps track of your streaming allotment and available downloads.
The first time you use the new 4.0 streaming interface, a large pop-up screen entitled “Streaming 1-2-3” will walk you through the basics or read the particulars in the FAQ. If you do not immediately see the streaming option simply logout and log back in.
We are very excited about offering this new service. With this increased access and the 13 million songs that are available to you, we believe that Freegal will now be your daily “go to” music service!
Updates to the existing Freegal mobile apps, which will now carry the streaming functionality, are available in the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store and you must update them to provide the streaming function. In addition to the streaming interface, mobile users can now download music videos to their mobile devices, which you were unable to do before.
Go to the Freegal Music Site. Enter your Canton Library Borrower card number (must begin with the digits "21631") and your user PIN. (If you have not changed your PIN it is "OCLN")
The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM (Digital Rights Management), and videos are in the MP4 format with no DRM.
This service will work on almost any computer, player, tablet or smartphone. The Freegal Music mobile app is free in the Apple® App Store and in Google® Play.
Music videos will count for two (2) of your allotted downloads. If you do not have two (2) downloads available you will not be able to download a music video.
